My name is Sara, and I am currently in my 12th year of teaching. My first year I taught kindergarten in Hurley. The consecutive years, I have been the first grade teacher for Viborg-Hurley. I love teaching first grade; there is so much growth that happens in such a short period of time. I treasure each milestone and goal students achieve. I live for the "light bulb" moments!
I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Dakota State University. I enjoy learning new strategies and bringing them back to the classroom. I try to keep my teaching style fresh and engaging! Nothing feels worse than being stuck in a rut!
I married the love of my life, Darrell, in 2008. We have been blessed with three children: Wally, Collin, and Emmy. Wally is in 4th grade this year, Collin is in 2nd grade, and Emmy is in preK! We have lived in Hurley for 12 years and love our friendly community. I am originally from Aberdeen, SD. Small town living has been an unexpected blessing, and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world!
I love playing the piano, cooking and baking, gardening, and spending time with my family. I enjoy spending time relaxing outdoors and watching my kids play.
