My name is Sara, and I have been teaching for 7 years. My first year I taught kindergarten in Hurley. The consecutive years, I have been the first grade teacher for Viborg-Hurley. I have loved teaching first grade; there is so much growth that happens in such a short period of time. I treasure each milestone and goal students achieve. I live for the "light bulb" moments!
I received my B.S. in Elementary Education from Dakota State University. I enjoy learning new strategies and bringing them back to the classroom. I try to keep my teaching style fresh and engaging! Nothing feels worse than being stuck in a rut!
I married the love of my life, Darrell, in 2008. We have been blessed with three children: Wally, Collin, and Emmy. Wally will be in kindergarten this year, Collin is 4 and loves hanging out at daycare, and Emmy was born January 2018. We have lived in Hurley for 8 years with our Blue Heeler, Sophie. I am originally from Aberdeen, SD. Small town living has been an unexpected blessing, and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world!
I love playing the piano, cooking and baking, gardening, and spending time with my family. I enjoy spending time relaxing outdoors and watching my kids play.
